On 12 October 2024, the Forum for the Scottish Baronage held an online webinar exploring the traditions, laws, and visual language of Scottish heraldry. The lecture was presented by Dr Bruce Durie, a leading expert in Scottish genealogy and heraldry.
The session offered an engaging overview of heraldic principles, with particular emphasis on such baronial elements that distinguish these dignities. Dr Durie discussed the evolution of baronial additaments, the legal standing of heraldic grants, and the cultural significance of armorial bearings in the modern era.
This engaging webinar is part of the Forum’s ongoing effort to promote accurate scholarship and wider public engagement with the baronage’s historical traditions.
